Hiring will be 'top priority' for private firms in 2011

Date: 25th January 2011

Firms to focus on recruitment and hiring this yearThis year will see private sector organisations put a renewed focus on recruitment and hiring, it has been suggested.

A recently-published report by XpertHR has claimed that the top priorities for private sector firms will be hiring more staff and improving their recruitment procedures, Personnel Today reported.

The report also suggested that private firms may need to take up a number of workers released by the public sector, with such organisations more focused on cost savings and change management.

Noelle Murphy, employment relations editor at XpertHR, told the news provider: "We would expect some differences in terms of priorities for the coming year within different sectors, but this year the sectors are polar opposites.

"HR in the public sector is certainly geared up for a difficult year, with all of our respondents referring to change management, cost-cutting, restructuring and redundancies as priorities, while HR in the private sector appears to be concentrating once again on core issues such as organisational and leadership development."

Over the past 10 years we believed that if we wanted outstanding service we should use traditional large accountancy firms. Oh how wrong we had been! We had been charged high fees without any real value being added to the business.
