Govt hopes new centre will boost green sector

Date: 10th February 2012

Dr Cable announces green boostSmall businesses operating in the green technology sector will be encouraged by the recent comments of Business Secretary Vince Cable.

Dr Vince Cable recently announced that the new Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult will have its headquarters at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow.

The MP claimed that the centre will provide the UK with a huge economic boost, create thousands of jobs and help to "bridge the gap" between university research and the "full commercialisation" of a range of technologies.

This will benefit a number of business and individuals working in the offshore wind, wave and tidal power sectors.

Dr Cable commented: "Our offshore renewable sector can compete on a global scale and has huge potential for growth. If we can harness that we will generate billions of pounds for the economy whilst creating thousands of job opportunities at the same time.

"The Catapult centre will be based in a Scottish world-class centre of excellence, part of a collaboration with a centre in the north-east of England."

Over the past 10 years we believed that if we wanted outstanding service we should use traditional large accountancy firms. Oh how wrong we had been! We had been charged high fees without any real value being added to the business.
