Free money advice service launched by HM Treasury

Date: 12th March 2010

Chancellor lauches new money advice serviceChancellor of the exchequer Alistair Darling has announced the launch of a new service offering free advice to UK citizens.

Moneymadeclear will allow people to receive free, impartial advice as part of the multi-platform service.

Advisers from a range of organisations including the Citizens Advice Bureaux and Age Concern will offer financial advice by telephone, internet and face-to-face consultations.

Launching the service earlier this week, Mr Darling said: "Moneymadeclear is free, impartial advice for all, whether you are unsure about the small print in a mortgage form; want advice about opening a savings account for your children or grand-children or you want some help dealing with repayments before they get out of hand.

"This service will provide much needed advice for one million people across the UK in the coming year alone."

While the move will provide many people with much-needed advice on financial issues, those seeking help with business issues, such as tax payments, should continue to consult a specialist accountant.

Over the past 10 years we believed that if we wanted outstanding service we should use traditional large accountancy firms. Oh how wrong we had been! We had been charged high fees without any real value being added to the business.
