Facebook generation 'comfortable' with online engagement

Date: 23rd June 2008

Those graduates who make up part of the Facebook generation will have no problem interacting with employers over the internet, it has been claimed.

According to Jayne Rowley, publishing director for Graduate Prospects, in the future, such graduates will have no problems interacting with employers as social networks develop a presence in the professional arena.

Moreover, Ms Rowley believes that the process of networking is a useful way to source leads for employment.

"As the social networks extend their reach in to professional areas, the Facebook generation will feel entirely comfortable engaging with employers in this way in the future," said Ms Rowley.

"The more resources a graduate can identify, the more choice they are giving themselves."

In related news, Ms Rowley has also advised graduates to consider making use of recruitment agencies when looking for jobs, as such organisations often manage vacancies on the recruiters behalf.

Over the past 10 years we believed that if we wanted outstanding service we should use traditional large accountancy firms. Oh how wrong we had been! We had been charged high fees without any real value being added to the business.
