FSB welcomes new Entrepreneurship Inquiry

Date: 9th February 2012

Mr Walker has welcomed the Inquiry Small business owners will benefit from the new All Party Parliamentary Small Business Group Entrepreneurship Inquiry.

That is according to the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB), which said the Inquiry will help to explore ways of overcoming unemployment, finance and skills gaps.

John Walker, National Chairman of the FSB, welcomed the launch of the Inquiry, saying: "We have heard for so long that small businesses cannot access finance from the banks, but for some entrepreneurs even approaching the bank is not an option.

"While alternative forms of finance need to be promoted, this needs to change and confidence needs to be instilled in all sectors of society so that they know bank finance is a real option."

The first meeting of the Inquiry is expected to discuss why women and mature people are less likely to apply for bank finance and why small firms still struggle to access funds.

Over the past 10 years we believed that if we wanted outstanding service we should use traditional large accountancy firms. Oh how wrong we had been! We had been charged high fees without any real value being added to the business.
