FSB highlights importance of financial security

Date: 30th May 2008

The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) has highlighted the importance of financial security for start-up enterprises.

According to a representative for the FSB, in addition to financial security, start-up companies should also ensure that planning in relation to their establishment has been conducted "well in advance".

"Really plan ahead well in advance - possibly up to a year before you even think about setting up the business - you need plenty of research," said the FSB representative.

"[And,] make sure you've got the money and you've got a bit of financial security."

The organisation has also highlighted that those looking to start their own business should ensure healthy levels of support, speak to other businesses operating within the same sector and practice networking.

Established in 1974, the FSB is a UK-orientated organisation with a membership base of more than 205,000.

Over the past 10 years we believed that if we wanted outstanding service we should use traditional large accountancy firms. Oh how wrong we had been! We had been charged high fees without any real value being added to the business.
