Economic crisis causing staff conflicts

Date: 4th June 2009

More conflicts are occuring in business due to the recessionBritain's disastrous economic situation has led to a surge in personality conflicts in business, it has been found.

Research by law expert Mace and Jones shows that senior staff at firms are clashing more than ever as a result of redundancies and payroll downsizing.

The group warned that relationships are vital to the smooth running of businesses and should be fixed at all costs.

Head of employment law at the firm Martin Edwards said: "We are seeing an upsurge in work from employers who are experiencing problems with senior staff since the recession.

"Senior managers who previously worked apart are having to work more closely because redundancies are creating smaller teams."

He added that no business can "tolerate" employees who refuse to put their differences to one side.

Similarly, a study by Investors in People earlier this month showed that stress levels in the workplace have risen significantly in recent months.

Over the past 10 years we believed that if we wanted outstanding service we should use traditional large accountancy firms. Oh how wrong we had been! We had been charged high fees without any real value being added to the business.
