Demand for IT services on the rise in Scotland

Date: 20th May 2011

Demand for IT services on the riseSmall businesses and contractors working in the IT sector in Scotland could be among those encouraged by the findings of a new study.

The latest Report on Jobs from the Bank of Scotland has revealed that the IT sector saw the fastest rise in demand in April.

Meanwhile, demand for temporary workers in the sector also remained high, with staff more in demand than those working in medical care, blue collar jobs, executive and professional posts and the accounting and financial sector.

Donald MacRae, chief economist at the Bank of Scotland, explained: "The number of people placed into permanent positions increased for the seventh consecutive month, while demand for permanent staff rose markedly in April, with recruitment consultants registering a larger number of vacancies.

"The number of temporary staff vacancies also rose in April, at the fastest rate in four months. Again, all eight employment sectors saw greater demand, with hotel and catering recording the strongest growth."

Over the past 10 years we believed that if we wanted outstanding service we should use traditional large accountancy firms. Oh how wrong we had been! We had been charged high fees without any real value being added to the business.
