Businesses look to make redundancies

Date: 2nd April 2009

More small businesses, from ltd companies to sole traders, are looking to make redundanciesAn increasing number of small businesses are looking to make redundancies, a new survey has shown.

Research of both private and public sector organisations by the recruitment firm Talent Q has shown that up to 44 per cent of employers are considering cutting their payroll, with many of the affected companies being in the industrial and manufacturing sectors.

One of the primary reasons for this could be lack of cashflow in small businesses - something which an accountant could provide vital support on.

Director of Talent Q, Alan Bourne, said: "The picture painted by HR people across the UK is stark with no sector untouched by redundancies.

"For employees in industrial and manufacturing companies the next few months will be especially unsettling."

Meanwhile, the business support service everywoman has claimed that more females than ever are launching their own business start-ups, suggesting that the recession has proved beneficial for some.

Over the past 10 years we believed that if we wanted outstanding service we should use traditional large accountancy firms. Oh how wrong we had been! We had been charged high fees without any real value being added to the business.
