Business urged to 'embrace' flexible working

Date: 21st June 2010

CBI champions flexible workingBusinesses in the UK are being urged to "embrace" the culture of flexible working by one industry body.

The Confederation of British Industry (CBI) said that flexible working has played a "key role" in sustaining businesses and minimising job losses throughout the economic recovery.

In a new report, entitled making Britain the Place to Work, the organisation has urged firms to adopt flexible working polices.

The CBI has also called for the regulation that will cost jobs to be blocked and for laws around industrial action to be changed.

According to the CBI, the required amount of support for strike action to go ahead should be at least 40 per cent of the entire workforce.

CBI deputy director-general John Cridland said: "As we enter a period of fragile recovery, we need to do everything we can to create a jobs market that works for Britain and to ensure Britain is the place to work.

"To position the UK for growth, any new employment legislation must pass a simple test of whether it will encourage job creation."

Over the past 10 years we believed that if we wanted outstanding service we should use traditional large accountancy firms. Oh how wrong we had been! We had been charged high fees without any real value being added to the business.
