Britons are being 'forced to put work first'

Date: 6th April 2011

Workers forced to put thier jobs first, report showsSmall business owners operating in the UK could be among those interested in the findings of a recent report.

According to research published by Scottish Windows, UK adults believe they are spending too much time at work and not enough time with their families.

Figures from the study revealed that more than one-fifth (21 per cent) of UK workers do not prioritise their children as much as they would like.

Furthermore, almost 40 per cent said they feel they are not devoting enough time to their partners.

Iain McGowan, savings expert for Scottish Widows, said: "Families are continuing to feel the pressure and unfortunately for many, it's the relationships with their kids and partners that are taking most of the strain.

"It's understandable parents need to work hard to provide for their children's futures and ensure their jobs remains secure, particularly in such challenging economic conditions. But we urge people to take a step back from time to time to ensure that their long-term life priorities do not stray too far out of balance."

Over the past 10 years we believed that if we wanted outstanding service we should use traditional large accountancy firms. Oh how wrong we had been! We had been charged high fees without any real value being added to the business.
