Small firms could benefit from IT outsourcing

Date: 9th July 2009

IT outsourcing could benefit firms in the long runSmall businesses could increase productivity and save money by outsourcing their IT needs, according to Outsourcery.

In outsourcing IT needs, small businesses can afford themselves more time and money by avoiding the investment in and maintenance of the IT department.

Piers Linney, executive director of Outsourcery, said: "Your business is about focussing on business, not IT."

He went on to say that although businesses could save money in the short term by sticking to existing IT setups and avoiding an outlay on more sophisticated technologies from hosted IT services, in the long run they would not.

He commented: "You can save money today, or, you can make your business more effective and efficient and that means you're going to make more money."

According to research by Harris, businesses in the UK put 41 per cent of their IT budget towards innovation rather than maintaining their existing IT setup.
