NFEA launches credit crunch week

Date: 11th April 2008

The National Federation of Enterprise Agencies (NFEA) is holding a Credit Crunch Week, in an effort to inform small business owners how any economic changes may affect them.

Running from April 28th to May 2nd, the week-long awareness event will provide small firms with the knowledge and skills they need to "survive and thrive in a more hostile environment".

Commenting on this new initiative, NFEA chief executive George Derbyshire said: "We know from talking to small businesses that they are worried about what they are reading and hearing, and we know that many entrepreneurs, particularly those who have started businesses in recent years, have not had the experience of managing their business through a downturn."

Mr Derbyshire added that the event was not a criticism of the work done by the government or major financial institutions.

A number of tailored events will be held throughout the week, including workshops, seminars and one-to-one financial advice sessions.

The NFEA is an independent network of local enterprise agencies, committed to advising small businesses and influencing the development of government strategies.

Over the past 10 years we believed that if we wanted outstanding service we should use traditional large accountancy firms. Oh how wrong we had been! We had been charged high fees without any real value being added to the business.
