Brits resolve to sort out finances

Date: 29th December 2010

Brits to sort out finances in 2011Small business owners operating across the UK could be among the large number of Britons vowing to sort out their finances for the year ahead.

In a survey of New Year's resolutions by Gocompare.com sorting out financial situations accounted for 44 per cent of the vote.

From a small businesses perspective, this could involve making an appointment with a specialist tax accountant.

According to the survey, financial improvements were third on list behind losing weight and taking more exercise.

John Miles, business development director at Gocompare.com, commented, "A new year presents us with a new start and an opportunity to look forward as well as reflecting on the changes we want, or need, to make in our lives.

"Money worries are clearly very much front of mind still - the fact that more people are resolving to sort out their finances than 'spend more time with their family', 'quit smoking' and 'reduce alcohol consumption' put together tells us a lot about the economic outlook for 2011."

Over the past 10 years we believed that if we wanted outstanding service we should use traditional large accountancy firms. Oh how wrong we had been! We had been charged high fees without any real value being added to the business.
